  1. It is possible for an "Nachverzollung". But it works only for citizen they are live in the same country as you get in contact with the customs. For this the customs make a sealed cord around the violincase and inform the inland customs in your near. Then you get an timespace to bring your violin to the office with all documents. In the issue of Ms. Horicome it doesn`t work because she leaf the country over the border to Belgium and it would be no possibility to catch her. The europen union is although a custom union, but still very difficult of an transnational official act between the territorial countrys.
  2. Dear Jacob, in the case with Ms. Horicome there is a small difference in taxing. When you move into the EU all your relocation goods for household and daily things are free of taxing. Also her violin as long she use it for her profession. But for goods they are higher then 5.000 Euro you must fill out a paper when you move in the EU. That point she missed! So the customs have the right to think she bought it after she moved in. Only official customs documents have validity!

  4. Read this, not only the tabloids http://ec.europa.eu/...on/index_en.htm And here is the "ONLY" document to fill out before they leave the European-Union for travels who are citizen of any european country as Ms. Horigome is. Available on every custom offices and on international Airports in Europe. Officers are kind to help, get your stamp,.....done. When you come back in the EU just show it the customs. Many people on other forums and mostly on Facebook find endless time to hammering on germans nose, but not ten minutes to inform and respond in an appropriate example. 0330.pdf

  6. Here is the link to the document Ms. Yuzuko Horigome forgot to fill out before she left the european union with her violin. https://www.formulare-bfinv.de/ffw/form/display.do?%24context=0
  7. We see completly handmade, multible hands work on one Instrument, and machine work has not allways a relationship with quality. The neck attached here is available for 40$ on ebay. Machine carved till that point. You can do the rest by scraper. So what kind of acceptance will receive that finished Instrument???
  8. You are right if we talking only about the heighest standart of new instruments and my english is unfortunally not good enough to could express myself correctly what I meant. So i think maker who make only new instruments and we should not talk only about the highest standart (and please that should be allowed here too) have mostly a different view on this. I am with he same opinion as Nathan and CRussel.
  9. That is a typical thread wich should be split in two parts. One part should be only open to professional luthiers whoose income makes more as 75% from makeing and selling new instruments in different categories and price-ranges.
  10. Of course! Please take down the halo from the world of violins. It does not require a sharp knife but the right common sense.

    Eye candy

Here are some more. The "Gibson" viola and the Cello "ex Bonamy Dobree-Suggia" The wood on the upper part of the "King-George is on most parts very clean and the flames coming out very strong and give us an apparent it could be still wet.

  15. However the result after this study looks like, the owner of old italians will not care about it (maybe with a slight smile) as well it will not shaken up the world of new instrument making.
  16. Wich car is this? You think a Ferrari 355? Sorry a fake one. A 9.000$ Replica made in Thailand with a VW Beetle engine
  17. David yes this is a good explaination. But after this test we will still miss the explanation what makes a violin sound excellent and we can start again. Doesn`t it sounds like we sail around the oceans till we fall down from the edge of the earth-disc?
  18. Can I have a serious answer? (Sorry I am a Violinmaker who is stubborn to the workbench) What is the true reason to do this again and again?
