6-9k estimate, sold for 39k with premium. Hamma certificate as Guadagnini, looks to me like anything but. What are your thoughts?

I just checked out an interesting list from Tarisio's T2 auction, Lot 73. Besides its authentication, the bow's condition also looks troublesome. I suspect its head had some kind of incidents and had been through repairing. I have circled the questionable parts out. 

Can anyone with better expertise than I do make some analysis on this item? I am more interested in learning than the item itself.

Different markets may differ but just wondering how difficult it would be to sell this for over 60k (the obvious is "well it was in an auction for that very reason.) It is can very  easy to buy something that is virtually unsaleable.

This is my first post here.
I've read many past threads, and I was very impressed by the depth of knowledge shared by the members of this forum.

I'd like to talk about a violin in the Tarisio Fine Auction held in March 2026:
“A Violin, Gagliano Family, Naples, c. 1830”

Does anyone remember this instrument?

If this violin was truly a work of the Gagliano family, the hammer price of $18,000 feels extremely low to me.
I've been wondering whether I should've bid on it, and I slightly regret not doing so.

However, when I look at the purfling on the back, I wonder whether this instrument may have been composite.

Even taking that into account, if the attribution to the Gagliano family was reliable, the price still seems very low to me.

I am a guitarist and know nothing about violins. Seller says there are no markings/labels but that it was made by a luthier in San Francisco. I am trying to determine how much I should offer him for this instrument.

Wondering what to make of what appears to be poorly painted ‘flame’ on the back of this instrument. Is this common for a highly regarded modern Italian maker?

Does this viola (T2 lot 64) look like one of those European workshop instruments from Schoenbach etc? 

Where and when was it likely made, and does it look halfway decent? Looks ok to me for an advancing student, what do you think?

T2 says “good condition.” Does anything jump out at you?

As much as my heart wants to believe, my head advises caution because: 1) The violin is in remarkably good condition for a 250+ year old violin (no repairs, etc.);        2) Lack of grafted neck on such an old instrument;  3) The back is fire-branded with Le Marquis DeLair d'oiseaux anno.  While all have a firebrand on the back, one source I have found lends that the violins with the "anno" followed by a blank year are from the early 1920's (again, more consistent with an early 20th century instrument). 

While internet research is interesting, it certainly has its flaws.  So, that is why I am coming to the collective mind of "all things violin".  A few of the listed photos are attached.
