Type: Violin
Description: A golden-brown violin with a two-piece back. Labelled "James W. Briggs, Glasgow, 1924." In case. From 11893 James Briggs was himself a member o fthe Glasgow Society of Musicians and was later to become an Honary Associate. The following anecdote relating to the production of this violin by Briggs is recorded "On an evening in January, 1925, he gave a lecture and demonstration on the art of fiddle-making in the Concert Room. With assistance of his son Harry, he assembled and fixed the parts and the instrument was later in the evening presented to the Society."
