Casa del Sol - Meet the Shop

Clo Stancel
President

Clo has been president of Casa Del Sol since 1975. Clo studied organ with Dorothy Head and has been teaching piano and organ since 1965. Clo is a real "people person". She comes into the shop every day to make sure everyone is happy and in good health, and to take her son out to lunch.

Rodger Thompson
Owner - Manager

Rodger Thompson has been the secretary-treasurer of Casa Del Sol since 1979. In addition to being a board member, he joined the work force at the shop in 1991, full time. Since that time, he has become an expert bow repair person, everything from rehairing to full bow restoration. He is also performing major repair work on violins and their varnish. Rodger makes customers feel at ease, since he is a "people person" just like his Mom, Clo. Rodger is an ex-marine with an expert rating in high powered rifles and enjoys collecting rocks golfing.

Dereck Coons
Luthier

Dereck Coons has graduated from the Strings Technology program with an associate degree at Indiana University.Ê Hobbies include gardening, guitar playing and making, and massage therapy.Ê His work background includes retail businesses, infrastructure maintenance, and selling the guitars he makes. Still actively making and selling guitars, one of his many satisfied clients includes Atanes Tzvetekov.Ê Dereck is a very pleasant young man, and you will find him willing and easy to work with.

Ben Parrott
Luthier

Ben Parrott is also a graduate of the Strings Technology program at Indiana University. Ben makes violins wich are both pleasing to the ear and the eyes, his new instruments always draw a crowd. Ben's violins are being played all around the United States. Aside from making fine instruments Ben is a swell fellow and always wears a big simle.

Linda Robinson
Bookeeper

Linda is the business end of the shop. If you have called the shop she was probably the first one you talked to. Besides looking happy on the phone, Linda keeps track of all of the paperwork and personally sees to it that everyone is eating well.

Ted Skreko

Ted is a student at the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. He studies under Peter Paul Prier during the school year, but when school is out he makes his way back to Indianapolis to work in the shop. Ted is currently working on a few violins and does repairs in the shop.
