Casa del Sol - About Us

History

Clo and Al Stancel founded Casa del Sol in 1975. Al initially worked on stringed instrument repairs from his home. In 1982 he began to built instruments, and shortly thereafter moved the shop to its present location on 62nd Street.

Al taught many young employees the tricks of the trade until his passing in 1999. His son Rodger is now owner and operating manager of the shop. Clo remains the corporate president.

Services

Casa Del Sol has been serving the string community since 1975. We specialize in sales and restoration of violins, violas, and cellos. We have sold instruments all over the world, including such far away places as England, Korea and Japan. In 1990 Casa del Sol was the official luthier of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.
